About Lisa Mangwiro

If I wasn’t a Speech Pathologist, I’d probably be a cafe and bookshop owner.

No, not front of house, but lurking in the back nose-deep into a historical fiction novel or better yet, drafting up my very own.

Instead, I’ve spent almost 15 years working as a Speech Pathologist across different sectors, with extra specialised training in Orofacial Myology (AKA Oromyofunctional Therapy). That’s the professional side. The personal side? I’m also a parent of a child who has experienced Orofacial Myology challenges: oral ties, enlarged tonsils and adenoids, speech errors, crowded teeth, mouth breathing…..we’re talking the works. So I get it.

  • How tricky the health system can be to navigate

  • How exhausting it is to keep advocating, over and over.

  • How frustrating it feels when your concerns aren’t heard.

  • How hard it is to juggle being both parent and ‘at-home therapist’

  • The second-guessing, the late night Googling, the constant search for answers that actually make sense.

Oof. It can be such a wild and long ride.

And it’s one I’d love to support you with.

About you

By the time you find me, you’re often already:

  • Your family is planning a tongue tie release and being told there’s pre and post therapy needed for oral function

  • The tonsils and adenoids are gone, but your child still breathes with their mouth open. And you’re left wondering: “Ummmm…but why?”

  • Your sweet (and often cheeky) kiddo has the works: mouth open when they’re not eating or drinking, crowded teeth, and oral ties, speech errors, poor sleep, noisy breathing…oh, and teeth grinding to top it off.

The good news?

Orofacial Myology focuses on retraining the muscles of the mouth, and face through fun-filled therapy sessions that you and your child can continue at home.
